You always have a choice….

December 3, 2009 at 10:38 pm (Life Decisions, Self Growth)

Welcome and thank you for taking the time to read my blog.  As a counselor in training, I seek to offer any help or advice I can in the form of the written word.   The purpose of my blog is to serve as a reminder that we all have choices.  Each day, thousands of choices come our way.  What time we get up, what time we go to work, what to eat, etc.  The argument frequently comes up that we don’t have these choices and they are set in stone; however, that is not true.  You always have a choice.  Knowing the consequences that may come from those choices is empowering when you realize this.  You can choose to do several things in many different ways, but when you are choosing to do something, you are also choosing to faces the consequences.

The content in this blog is varied and anything directly quoted will be referenced; however, the foundation and inspiration for this blog comes from Dr. Garry Landreth.  Dr. Landreth has inspired my thinking and actions toward understanding people on a completely different level.  As my professor in grad school, he taught me “seeing the world through the eyes of a child” rather than having the child see through my eyes.  I am very thankful and grateful to my education from Dr. Landreth and the friendships developed through training to become a counselor.  This blog will cover several topics, but will be driven by the reminder that you always have a choice.

“When you have to make a choice and don’t make it, that in itself is a choice.”

~William James
